Looking for someone to help me with my Russian.... I am in the Gomel-Region of Belarus several times a year, including this May. I want to work on my Russian while there. Hoping to hear back from someone.... I will be arriving by train in Gomel on April 30.

I went city Gomiel in Belarus just few days ago by event.
And I need to say that belorussians are closely to russians but not so!
Rick, you can learn and practice belorussian language in Gomiel well but there's wrong place for learn russian because belorussian language is more closely to lithuanian and ukrainian languages but there's sensitive difference between russian and belorussian languages.

Of course, you can meet many poor peoples in Belarus, which will offer for you low quality russian lessions and other services (include entertainments, sex, marriages and etc), but if you have a serious wishings to learn russian well then you should not do it in Belarus, you should go to Moscow or meet with native russian refugees in other countries.
