Any recommendations on any beginners texts in Portuguese???
I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a book that may be of help to someone who's learning Portuguese. I will be taking a class soon, but I'd like to get a bit of a head-start. The last thing I want to purchase is one of those books for tourists. Please let me know!

Thanks,
Christy

Hi Christy,

I hope i can help you.
First that are some 'books for tourists' that have some good information and a good resume.
But if you want to really learn the language, I advice you to buy books with tapes or cds for you can listen the language. It's more expensive but is you that decide.
I recommend you this books:
Teach yourself Portuguese - from english
Assimil Portuguese - from french
Coloquial Portuguese - from english
hugo in three months - from english

Good Luck.

Hi,

what do you want to learn? Portuguese or brazilian portuguese? Actually, they are very different. It's the same, for example, between argentinian and castellano from Spain. Latin american portuguese and spanish are different from european spanish or portuguese. Both are beautiful, it's just a question of choice.
