SERBIAN/CROATIAN/BOSNIANH
, everybody interested in Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian!I’ve seen that some people would like to learn those idioms and also that some other offer their help. The problem is that the two sides probably don’t know how to do that. Let us try this way:I will post my lessons and additional material on the BULLETIN BOARD and in the CLUB LIBRARY (Language 1 Serbian, language 2 English). There will be also WORD GAMES in the language section SERBIAN (SERBO-CROATIAN), type OTHER, related to the words and expressions used in the lessons. I’ll inform you within the lessons, which category of game you should select. I hope you’ll enjoy them. You should consult the BULLETIN BOARD (Activities and Games). Click the option VIEW ALL MESSAGES and look for the title SERBIAN/CROATIAN/BOSNIAN. The message will contain the necessary instructions and the reference on the previous messages, which make part of our course.Your comments, especially concerning the different forms of expression in Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian, are welcome. They are very similar but not identical. I’m obviously no native English speaker but I’ll do my best. If you help me improve my English, you’ll automatically improve the quality of our course. Don’t forget to look up in the CLUB LIBRARY! You’ll find a lot of useful expressions, but also some rubbish (not from me!).

I have 2 penpals now in cero (0) and two advance and write frequently.

Hope to know from you,

Mary

Translation of a Vietnamese letter needed - into English or German
Hello everyone!

I hope there's a Vietnamese-speaking person out there. I have a letter here which needs to be translated, I'd scan it and send it by email. I used to sponsor a little girl in Vietnam but the sponsorship ended because the family didn't need the help anymore. However, now I've received a letter and can't read it and there's nobody who I could ask for a translation. The letter is one page long, written by the mother, plus half a page written by a 7-years old girl. I suppose it's not difficult to read and I don't need a perfect translation, just some info about the content. There seems to be an address at the end of the letter, so if I had the possibility to continue writing to the family, I'd love to do so but do need someone for the translations - so any volunteers are welcome! By the way, I'm German, so a translation into German is also possible, course!

Greetings,
Daniela

Re:Indirect and direct Objects
This will be a very basic explanation
Direct object:
First and foremost you must know the gendre and number of the noun, ie, if it’s female, masculine, plural or singular.

If the noun is singular and masculine, you replace it by LO, whereas if it’s plural you replace it by LOS ( before the verb)
Compré un LIBRO >>> LO compré (I bought it)
Compré tres LIBROS >>> LOS compré(I bought them)
No compré el LIBRO >>> No LO compré. (I did’t buy it)
No compré los LIBROS >>> No LOS compré. ( I did’t buy them)

If the noun is singular and feminine , you replace it by LA, whereas if it’s plural you replace it by LAS.

Horneé una TORTA >>> LA horneé
Horneé unas TORTAS >>> LAS horneé
(Negative form as above: No LA horneé/ No LAS horneé)

Indirect object: ( it replaces the structure ‘preposition + alguien/algo’)
You replace the structure by LE ( singular form) or LES (plural form) regardless of the gendre.

Puse un moño AL PAQUETE >>> LE puse un moño.
Puse unos moños A LOS PAQUETES >>> LES puse unos moños.
Hablé CON LA NIÑA >>>LE hablé
Hablé CON LAS NIÑAS >>> LES hablé
(negative form as above : No LE hablé/ No LES hablé)

Hope it helps you!!!!!!!

Remeber that la, las, los are also used as articles
