Re:English word 'Awful'
Sometimes, the word "awful" is used to describe something that is in a big quantity; it's used to exaggerate something. IE: 1) I have an awfully good time. [meaning, I have a very good time]
2) That's an awful lot of money! [meaning, that is really a lot of money]

Re:English word 'Awful'
in cases like this it can be confusing. awful does generally mean bad, but if it has lot with it: awful lot it means a huge amount of the item so an awful lot of money would mean a huge amount of money. so if it has lot after awful it means a really big amount. if it says aomething is aweful it means bad or horrible.

Re:Re:Re:Re:How do you say:
In the Southern United States it is common to call a heavy rain "A Gully Washer" meaning that the rain will wash a "gully" or "ditch" as it runs downhill.
