You may want to get another book if that's really what it said... and not because the "du".
Your sentence: J'habite dans la departement du Rhone.
The correct one: J'habite dans le département du Rhône.
Du is a contraction of de+le. You don't say "Rhône" but "le Rhône", so you use "du" in this case.

J'habite en suisse et je suis français. Ton annonce m'intéresse car je suis assez mauvais en anglais. Par contre le français est ma langue maternel, mais comme beaucoup de français, j'ai quelques problèmes d'orthographe. Ce que j'attends c'est surtout quelqu'un pour m'aider un parler un peu mieux anglais au niveau de la grammaire.
