I'm in Pune for 3 months (till the end of february 2008) for visiting my wife who is working here. I'd like to learn some of the Hindi language (of which I actually know nothing, so I am at the first step of the beginner level) to be able to communicate on very basic level and to be able to read some signs.
I've learned different languages : dutch, english, french and italian and also learned some german and chinese. The scope is thus not to speak the language fluently, but to enrich my cultural experience here. It would also be very interesting if he teacher can include in the language courses some local aspects that makes me know the local culture and habits better.
In theory I'm free during the day, although sometimes I wil be away for some days. I think a good frequency would be a few times a week.

I a beginner. I am interested in basic conversationa l hindi so that I can ask directions and understand the answers, order food, and interact with ordinary Indians without English skills. I am not interested in learning complex tenses, grammar, or vocabulary that nobody really uses. If there is an English word that's commonly used, I don't want to memorize the Hindi word. I would like a very practically and conversationa lly oriented teacher.
