Hi,
I'm a executive and frequently travel to China on business. I would like to pick up basic mandarin for business conversations in order to understand the exact need of my customers.
I'm a beginner and the only Chinese word I know is 'Nie Hai'!!
I don't know how much time it will take, but would like the lesson to be fast --- even I don't mind intensive ones like 2/3 hours a day. I'm a fast learner (I picked up Bahasa Indonesia w/o any help in 6 months --- but it's a comparatively easier language than Mandarin) and I think I can cope with intense lessons.

I am currently doing more China related business and would like to learn to speak fluent Mandarin. I am first generation Chinese, my parents speak Toi-San which is not spoken in the business world or most anywhere in China. It would be easier for me to learn Cantonese as it is more similar to the Toi-San dialect, but from a business prospective Mandarin would be most useful.
I am looking for a teacher who is proficient in proper, and business communication . I am not currently interested in learning to read, I would like to focus on speaking skills.
I have flexible time right now so I would like to dedicate as much time as possible. I would be at beginner level.

I am just a beginner. Since most of the companies that i'm interested to work in abroad looks for someone who speaks Mandarin, I think it's about time that I learn it even before I get there. I need to know the basic of mandarin language, the grammar, correct pronunciation and conversation (if there's this type of package) . I have only one month to study the language as I am planning to leave for Singapore the next month. The qualities that I look for in my teacher would be; patient, flexible, understanding , dedicated, credible, knows how to speak tagalog as well, organized, systematic, clear in giving instructions and do not charge too high as I only have a limited budget. May I also ask if do you issue certificate of completion? Likewise, may I know how many hours maximum is it to study Mandarin language, enough to understand and start to exchange simple conversation?
