Hello:
I'm interested in taking beginner Portuguese classes. My husband is from the Azores, and we're relocating to Sao Miguel in September. I would like to devote at least several hours a week to a class, and of course, would like to also have access to some language tapes if possible. It's not easy to find a class that offers continental Portuguese rather than Brazilizn.
As for instruction, I did once sign up for a class at a college in beginner Portuguese, but three of the students were already fluent, and so the class was very fast, so I would like to learn at a slower pace with a patient teacher! I'm a complete beginner, so that's necessary for me.

I want to learn português because I like brazilian people. I began picking up a few words and a friend say I had a pretty good accent. I began to study português on my own and Im able to defend myself in the language now.i would have to say I'm a intermidiate, if that . I know series of words and im able to have a conversation , I just feel I need to learn the grammar to take the little that I know now to next level. The time I would like to dedicate on learning work be three or four time a week in person , and about 2 hours daily. Im not looking for a specific quality in a teacher .

I am moving to Brazil (Sao Paulo) in the summer and don't speak any Portugese. I need someone who can help me pick up the basics. I am less interested in grammar at this stage and more interested in being able to communicate in shops, on transport etc.
I would like one to one or small group lessons and would prefer to have them in the evenings rather than weekends. At the moment I could only manage once a week but after Easter I could step it up a little.
I know how hard it is to teach one to one and so I need a teacher who is personable and uses a variety of learning styles to keep things interesting.
